(Cool, I'm the 40th post!)
...Yeah. So I was watching this music show and it had Jay-Z on, and I heard the best lyrics ever. In the history of mankind kind of way. Like seriously, I'd MARRY these lyrics if I could.
"You're now in a game where only time can tell
Survive the droughts, I wish you well...
Survive the droughts? I wish you well?
How sick am i? I wish you HEALTH
I wish you wheels, i wish you wealth
I wish you insight so you could see for yourself"
-American Dreamin', Jay-Z
Oh my God. This guy deserves, a medal, or something. Seriously. I absolutely LOVE these lyrics. They're awesome. It's just so true, and just... wow. Man, I love Jay-Z. I shall now go on iTunes to get this song!
...Yeah.
That gets my "Best lyrics known to mankind." award. I shall now post other finalists!
"It's ironic, at times like this we pray,
But a bomb blew the mosque up yesterday."
-Hands Held High, Linkin Park
"There's a place so dark you can't see the end,
Sky's cocked back, a shotgun which you can't defend,
The rain ends sends dripping, acidic questions,
Forcefully, the power of suggestion.
Then with the eyes shut,
Looking through the rust and rotting dust,
A small spot of light floods the floor.
And pours over the rusty world of pretend,
And they eyes ease open, and it's dark again."
-Forgotten, Linkin Park
"I have a dream of a scene between the green hills
Clouds pulled away and the sunlight's revealed
People don't talk about keeping it real--
It's understood that they actually will"
-Dedicated, Linkin Park
"...So you can try on,
Leave you without a shoulder to cry on,
For now to ininity let icons be bygones."
-High Voltage, Linkin Park
God Deciding by Hot Water Music. Every line in that song is amazing.
"Here the drum pounding out of time,
Another protester has crossed the line, to find
The money's on the other side."
-Holiday, Green Day
"And my ties are severed clean,
The less I have the more I gain."
-Wherever I May Roam, Metallica
"Accesorizing with a rosary,
Tucked inside her lingerie"
-Build God, Then We'll Talk, Panic! At The Disco
"If money's such a problem,
Well they've got mansions,
I think we should rob them."
-Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, Good Charlotte
"Too blind to see tomorrow,
To broke to beg or borrow.
Young and stupid,
Left wide open,
Hearts are wasted,
Lives are broken."
-Everytime I Look For You, Blink-182
"Your verbal defecation I can't wash away despite myself,
Your vanity, it seems, has served you well."
-No Jesus Christ, Seether
"Everything falls apart,
Even the people who never frown will eventually break down."
-Pushing Me Away, Linkin Park
"From day one I talked about getting out,
But not forgetting about,
How all my worst fear's are letting out.
He said why put a new address,
on the same old loneliness?
When breathing just passes the time,
Until we all just get old and die,
That talking's just a waste of breath,
And living's just a waste of death,
And why put a new address,
on the same old loneliness?!
And this is you and me,
And me and you,
Until we've got nothing left!"
-Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying (Do Your Part to Save the Scene and Stop Going to Shows), Fall Out Boy
"Living well and dressed to kill
But she looks like hell to me"
-Fashion Victim, Green Day
"You've got front row seats to the penitence ball,
When I grow up, I want to be nothing at all!"
-The End, My Chemical Romance
"One minute you're on top
(The next you're not, watch it drop)
Making your heart stop
(Just before you hit the floor)"
-Hit the Floor, Linkin Park
"But there's no regret,
And no roads left to run."
-No Roads Left, Linkin Park
